February Post 7/12 – A Little More About That Blue Cube…..

February 24, 2012

Sam started tumbling classes this past summer. It was evident very early on that she had natural abilities to tumble and she instantly fell in love with her class & her coaches. In January, we made the hard decision to leave the gym we started with and make the change to the gym we are currently at. I knew it was going to be a rough transition for Sam because she truly loved her coaches at the first gym and was very comfortable there, but I also knew it was for the best and in time she would come around to her new coaches and the new gym. We went for a trial class and she was for sure a little leary. A larger gym, new faces and new ways of doing things. There was a blue foam cube from the jump pit that one of the other girls picked up. The cube got tossed around as the girls waited for their turn. Sam began to warm up to the other kids and joined in on the fun. At the end of the class, her coach told her she did an awesome job and that he was really impressed with her. Hugging the blue cube, she smiled. Her coach told her she could take the cube home and keep it. For some crazy reason, that was REALLY exciting to her! Almost two months later, she still has that blue cube and she is thriving at her new gym. She loves everyone up there…..coaches, students & her teammates. She is on a mini all-star cheer team called Halos and their first competition in next Saturday. She is BEYOND excited! At her old gym, she went to 3 classes a week, each for an hour. Now she is at the gym 5 nights a week for several hours a night. She works really hard and loves it! She has the most incredible group of coaches that believe in her and push her. At four years old, she will tell you she is going to attend OU and be a Boomer Sooner Cheerleader and then later cheer for the Minnesota Vikings! The girl has goals and she wants to be the best! Last night I snapped this pic of her at stunt class. She has come so far and learned so much. I really need to get out my video camera soon!

February Post 6/12 – The Start of Something Amazing!

There is a big and wonderful story behind this blue cube…….but I need to get a few more pictures before I can share the story, so til then……

February Post 5/12 – Supercross!

February 17, 2012

Charley & the boys had an awesome opportunity yesterday! They were invited to do a private tour with the pros and see the Dallas Cowboys Stadium be transformed for the big Supercross event this weekend. They had a blast hanging with the big guns and watching the track get built. And the icing on the cake for the boys…….the got to be there instead at school!

February Post 4/12 – SENIOR!

February 15, 2012

As I write this post, my heart is just full. Almost 15 years ago, I met Kalee for the first time. She was the cutest chubby little girl with a head full of curly hair and the biggest brown eyes. So many little memories from her childhood I will never forget…….the way she would sit at her little pink table coloring & singing to herself, her never ending imagination, the cute yellow chick she drew for her preschool homework assignment (she drew in about 10 seconds or less and it was a perfectly plump yellow chick, looked like a 10 year old drew it) how ADORABLE she looked when she got glasses in first grade, the frog she released back to the pond that got eaten by a big fish (and the look on her face as her beloved froggy was swallowed whole) the times she would spend hours cleaning her first ‘big girl’ bicycle because she was just so proud of it. I could go on and on. It’s just so hard to believe that she is now a SENIOR in high school and only 3 short months away from graduating and going off to college. Doesn’t seam possible, but it is. And as I type, I look over at Sam, she’s sitting on the floor by my desk, coloring and singing to herself. I just want to stop time. Why can’t they stay little longer. I know I will blink my eyes and be writing a post titled “SENIOR” about Sam and Rylee (TEARS).

So, here are Kalee’s senior pictures, taken by the AMAZING Jess http://www.oliveavenuephotography.com/ and I am IN LOVE with EVERY SINGLE PICTURE! To my incredible daughter Kalee: I love you more than you will ever know. You are such a blessing in my life. You are an wonderful big sister. You have a heart of gold and a future with endless possibilities. I know God has big plans for you! I am so proud of you and will always love you with all of my heart.

February 3/12 – Happy Valentine’s Day!

February 2/12 – Sick…

February 13, 2012

I was just thinking to myself the other day how lucky our family has been this fall/winter to have avoided the many cases of strep, flu and other cooties that have been going around. Saturday morning Rylee woke up with the stomach flu. Poor baby is miserable……..I’ll spare you the details! Really hoping it doesn’t get passed around the whole family.

February 1/12 – 100th Day of School!

February 2, 2012

Today was Rylee’s 100th day of school! She had a homework assignment to make a sign with her name on it and glue 100 things on it. She wanted it to be sparkly, so we went with metallic pom poms and silver curling ribbon. All the preschool classes held their signs and had a parade around the school! She just got home and told me it was SO FUN!

January Post 12/12 – 14 Years!

February 1, 2012

Last night, Charley and I celebrated our 14 year anniversary! We enjoyed a great night out (no kids!) at The Melting Pot. We were seated at our table covered in Rose Petals with a bottle of champagne & a dozen roses. The four course meal was AMAZING! It was wonderful to have that time to spend together and talk about the memories made over the years……and we agreed that for year 15, we’re going to take a trip somewhere fun. It truly was a romantic and memorable night!

January Post 11/12 – Texas Winter Nights

January 31, 2012

Some of you may be jealous that we can be playing outside in January, wearing shorts and t-shirts, but really……I wish they were bundled up, playing in the snow!

Ella loves to play badminton and has found a love for tennis too! She is hoping to make her school tennis team this year! Good luck Ella, I know you can do it!

Sam thinks dandelions are the best things ever!

January Post 10/12 – Chúc Mừng Năm Mới & Xīnnián Kuàilè, Year of the Dragon!

January 27, 2012

So, I totally bombed taking pics of the occasion! I started off good and snapped a few of Rylee when she came home from school with her dragon craft and red envelope, but totally didn’t take the camera out the rest of the day. Rylee took red envelopes to school for all her friends as well as some things we bought in China for show and tell. We had asian food for dinner and a nice family celebration! Chúc Mừng Năm Mới & Xīnnián Kuàilè!
